Essential Requirement:
Management or Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent to Diploma/ Degree/NVQ 5 or* equivalent work level experience
* Experience of supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse and/or sexual violence and abuse/stalking. Experience of undertaking strengths and needs assessments including a DASH/RIC
* Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working (eg MARAC) and managing complex and demanding service functions. Knowledge of best practice in relation to safeguarding, crisis accommodation, community-based settings and MARAC
* Experience of managing, supporting, supervising, motivating and developing teams and individuals. Knowledge of criminal and civil proceedings relating to SVA/DVA/Stalking
* Skilled at IT including office packages such as excel, power point and word and have the ability to produce reports and maintain administration systems
The Role
The role of the MARAC Officer is to work closely with organisations working with people who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse, and coordinate the countywide MARAC response. You will be responsible for collection and collation of data to ensure the smooth running of the MARAC. This role will quality assure the process and be able to chair the virtual MARAC on a weekly basis. You will work with the PARAGON Service Manager, Commissioners and agencies to support the new MARAC implementation across Somerset, taking a lead role in the training, updating and support offered to other agencies. The MARAC Officer will oversee the efficient running of the Somerset MARAC, including the electronic case management system (MANTA). Ensure compliance with national guidelines and local procedures, promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the MARAC process.
The MARAC Officer will be responsible for the co-ordination and weekly chairing of the Somerset MARAC, which sits within the Somerset Domestic Abuse Service:
1. The MARAC Officer will quality assure the MARAC process, working with the Service manager and other agencies to improve practice
2. As part of the training role the MARAC Officer will deliver MARAC rep training to agencies to ensure a consistent and competent approach.
3. The MARAC Officer will be the point of contact for all new or departing reps, ensuring the system is up to date so that all agencies continue to be represented.
4. The MARAC Officer will work with agencies to ensure their attendance at MARAC, escalate any concerns to respective managers as appropriate to discuss any non-attendance or non-engagement and report to the Somerset Domestic Abuse Board.
5. The MARAC Officer will embed equality and anti-racist practice, seeking innovative solutions to support people where ethnicity or life choices or experiences make it hard for them to access services.
6. The MARAC Officer will work with internal and external partners to ensure the MARAC is effective to improve the safety of men, women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse.
7. The MARAC Officer will develop and maintain effective professional working relationships both internally and externally for the best interests of victims and their families.
8. The MARAC Officer will ensure that all organisations maintain their responsibility for the safety of adults and children and follow safeguarding processes.
