Location: Swindon

Salary: £12,833.60 (£25,670.00 FTE ) Additional enhancements will be paid for sleep-in shifts

40 hours per fortnight on a shift basis (contracted for 20 hours per week)

Essential Requirements:

  • Provide 3 or 4 (or more if applicable) bullet points for essential requirements

  • Health & Social Care qualification or equivalent to NVQ level 3 or equivalent work level experience

  • Experience supporting vulnerable women, men and children (in community or in supported living) who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse

  • Experience of responding calmly and effectively to people in crisis or emergency

The Role:

PARAGON Refuge Out of Hours Workers are part of a team providing practical and emotional support to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse. Refuge Out of Hours workers work with women and children living in safe accommodation offering a range of practical and emotional support ensuring a whole family approach. This is a lone working role and you will form part of roster of staff covering evenings, nights and weekends including bank holidays. This is a 40 hours a fortnight contract, however in addition to the contracted hours, the successful candidate will be expected to provide overnight (sleep in) cover for a minimum of six shifts per fortnight.

The Refuge OOH worker will be responsible for managing the refuge accommodation, answering the 24-hour helpline offering support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, assessing referrals and providing access to emergency accommodation where appropriate, and supporting the safety and wellbeing of those residing in the refuge with the support of on-call staff and managers. The Refuge Out of Hours Worker will provide a flexible, trauma informed, client centred risk led service.

  • Ability to work client focused flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays

  • Ability to be person centred, trustworthy, flexible and solution focused

  • Skilled at putting others at ease and being approachable

  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding adults and children
