  • Good communication skills: verbal, non-verbal, and written

The Role:

We're recruiting for a Male Support Worker to join our Learning Disabilities Service in Blackfield, located in The New Forest. This is a great chance to help clients with learning disabilities manage different parts of their lives in a Supported Living setting. You'll be helping out with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and getting out into the community. Some clients may also need help with personal care, including toileting.

Your role is to provide safe, person-centred support to boost our clients independence and help them live their lives the way they want to.

Every day is different in this job, so you'll need to be flexible, patient, caring, and kind. Having experience with clients who have learning disabilities is a plus, but it's not a must since we offer thorough training to help all our staff feel confident in their roles.

For this role, we're specifically looking for a Male Support Worker due to the personal care needs of our clients. However, we also have positions for Female workers in this service, advertised separately.,

We also have an in-house Bank Worker service called Premier Crew, and we're hiring Premier Crew workers for this service too, which is also advertised separately.

About You:

The YOU Trust has a strong value base, striving to be person-centred, innovative, trustworthy, can-do and excellent at all times, so it is important that you are as passionate about these principles as we are.

You will need to be willing to learn, have a kind and caring nature, and communicate well with clients and colleagues. As mentioned above, experience working with people who have a learning disability is a plus, but it is not essential. You must be willing to work flexibly to help cover evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts. You need to be professional and proactive in all that you do, with a motivational, encouraging and supportive approach with clients and colleagues alike. We also want people who will share their successes and promote the excellence of the service wherever they go.

We are a disability confident employer.

YOU is a registered charity that has been providing care, support and advice for over 30 years to vulnerable people, working across Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight to give them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.
